About Ipswich Suffolk Events
In the past I have been amazed at how many events, groups, clubs, support, etc., there are in Ipswich but frustrated at not being able to find details about them in one easy accessible place, that gave me all the information I could possibly need.
So to cut a very long story short, I started Ipswich Suffolk Events on 1st September 2010 as a Facebook account. However due to the new Facebook profiles bought in at the end of 2010, Ipswich Suffolk Events could no longer function with Facebook, especially as they removed the ‘Events’ tab which was the only way my followers could see all forthcoming events.
Deciding in early 2011 to give it up, I posted a message on Facebook.
To my astonishment people began to contact me to tell me how much they had enjoyed Ipswich Suffolk Events and how many of them had found Events for themselves, their friends and family. Not just people who were attending Events but promoters, Groups, Pubs, Clubs, Organisations, Bands etc., were informing me that people were telling them they had heard about their Event/s through Ipswich Suffolk Events. This really encouraged me and I decided that if my hard work was helping people, it simply must continue. So, in February 2011, I set up a simple, basic website which worked well for a time.
I gave up smoking in March 2011 and saved my pennies up. Within 7 months I had saved up enough to have a professional website. So, in November 2011, this website became live. The old website had received just over 100,000 hits in the 9 months that I had it!
A lot of people ask me ‘why do I do all this for nothing?’ Well, between you and me I not only have a daughter who has Down’s Syndrome, to whom I am a carer, but I have a mental health illness too and I have found by keeping my mind active and focused I can channel all my energy that would have normally been spent on my illness into doing something positive and to help others.

I don’t get paid a penny for running this website and providing this free service, but I feel it is important and it simply must continue. All I ask of you is to spread the word! Tell as many people as possible and remember to bookmark this website amongst your favourites.
